To quote a line from an old Steve Taylor tune, "Hey, man... music is my life," or so it would seem to anyone who spends any amount of time with me. Music is my solace, my refuge from the world. In it I can escape the drudgeries of life and hide in the memories, the feelings, the sound itself, if even for just a short time.

I remember spending much of my childhood sitting at the piano, playing for hours... although I would never realize how much time had passed since I was literally "lost in the music"... transported to another level in my mind somewhere between consciousness and oblivion, if you will.

Most people will agree that there is nothing like the feeling you get when your favorite song comes on the radio. You crank up the volume and get lost in the words and music for 3 or 4 minutes. Well, for me all of the songs I hear have that effect on me. I will admit that I have favorites that have a slightly greater effect on me than others, but, for the most part, if the music is playing, it's a safe bet that I am lost in it in my own little world. So if you see me and there's music playing... you'll definitely have to do something to get my attention if you want to talk to me because I will be somewhere else!

With that in mind, you can imagine that I have a vast music collection spanning many styles and decades. The best thing about being alive today is that you can get the best music of all decades. Each year brings more and more great music. I sometimes wonder if I'll get to hear and appreciate it all in my lifetime.
