A little bit about me...
So... you want to know a little bit about me, eh?
I recently started my dream job, or something close to it, with the State of Kentucky. I work in Environmental Protection, which is something I've been dreaming of for many years. All that to say - hold on to your dreams because eventually they may come true!
I also am a part-time faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Eastern Kentucky University, where I'm "all-but-thesis" for my Master of Science degree in geology with an emphasis in mathematics and statistics. I plan to graduate this summer, so keep your fingers crossed...
I usually teach 2 math courses per semester in the evening, which makes my days (and nights) pretty packed, but it's worth it! So, I guess you could say I have two dream-jobs.
My interests are fairly well represented by the links on the main page. Please browse them and see if we have any in common! I also have 2 kittens, oops - make that 7 cats! They, of course, have their own page.
If you'd like to know more about me than you've learned through this site, or if you would care to engage in a friendly debate about any of my views, you can reach me at jo@notofthisworld.nu.
Update: The "Jo FAQ" above was written around January 2002. I'm still working in Environmental Protection for the State of Kentucky, but I'm now the supervisor of a newly-created section that is, to borrow a famous quote, "everything I never knew I always wanted."
I did (finally) manage to finish my thesis and graduated in December 2007 with the aforementioned Master of Science degree in geology with a healthy dose of math and statistics.
I no longer teach at night, but I do set up a booth at festivals and craft shows in the Kentucky-Tennessee-Ohio region to sell my "creations", which can be viewed on my main site. So, my days and nights are still pretty packed, but I really enjoy what I'm doing.
Cats... what can I say? We started with 2 kittens, moved on to 7 cats, and now have 13 indoor and 4 outdoor cats, although we're also currently caring for a feral cat community. (Any donations to help with the trap-neuter-release of the 27+ that have managed to populate the neighborhood would be greatly welcomed!!!) The brood still have their own page for your amusement. And, yes, Herc is still doling out advice...
Again, keep dreaming - they do eventually come true!
